Words of Encouragement – Fear

Clergy: Dr. Edith Winters Kimbrough | Series: Words of Encouragement | What is fear? Fear is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. My mother used to say, “Most of the things, that you fear and worry about, never really, happen.” However, people all over the world are afraid of something. And just think, when you were born, you only had two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud sounds. But now, that you are older, you have other fears – fear of failure, fear of ill health, fear of old age, fear of death, fear of losing your job and many others.

Now, that we all experiencing the Pandemic of the Coronavirus, it is difficult, not to have some fear, when it is created by the stress, of everyday news media, of so many people suffering and dying, daily, from it. And when you experience persons, in your own family, and among your church members and your friends, being tested positively, suffering and sometimes dying, fear is understandably instilled into many of your lives. However, God is saying to each of you, “Do not fear, nor worry, for I am with you, through all that you are going through.”

The Devil often seeks to use fear to challenge your hope and cause some of you to sometimes doubt, but there is always victory in God, when you trust Him completely, regardless, of what you are going through. The songwriter Andrae Crouch understood this, when he wrote: “In every situation, God gives, me blessed consolation, that my trials come to only, make me strong. Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God. I’ve learned to depend  upon His Word.” So, I say to you, as an encouraging word, trust and believe God. It is my prayer, in the Name of Jesus, that God will calm you of all of your feelings of fear, and give you His comfort, courage, strength, contentment and peace, in whatever you are going through.

I invite you to call me on my prayer line, if you need prayer.
